Role Summary
Are you tapped into what's next in fashion, pop culture, and youth identity? Do you have strong editorial instincts and a passion for how stories are told across social platforms? Dazed Media is seeking a full-time Editorial and Social Media Assistant to join our U.S. team.
This hybrid role will support the U.S. Editor and global Social Media Editors across editorial production, research, writing, digital publishing, and audience engagement. It’s ideal for someone with a sharp cultural eye, strong writing chops, and a desire to grow in both editorial and digital content production.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial Support
- Assist the U.S. Editor with daily editorial operations, story ideation, breaking news coverage, and adhering to timelines.
- Write short-form articles and features for dazeddigital.com.
- Assist with curating the daily newsletter of must-read stories.
- Conduct research, fact-checking, transcriptions, and sourcing for in-progress stories.
- Cover industry and cultural events (including but not limited to fashion shows, film premieres, launches, exhibitions) and file reports or social-first coverage.
- Support on US editorial calendars and ensure alignment with global publishing schedules, including co-branded articles and commercial editorial.
- Pitch content ideas rooted in emerging trends, talent, or cultural discourse, including how editorial ideas can translate into social coverage.
Social Media Support
- Assist with daily content publishing across Dazed’s social channels (@dazed, @dazedfashion, @dazedbeauty) on platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, and Threads
- Coordinate the end-to-end social media roll out for US co-branded campaigns, working in collaboration with UK colleagues and department heads to align on scheduling and paid media campaign boosting and activation
- Research and compile content for recurring social-first formats (e.g. memes, cultural explainers, talent spotlights).
- Monitor and report on social analytics, using insights to optimize performance.
- Assist in community management by engaging with followers and responding to comments/messages where appropriate.
- Stay informed on evolving social media tools and cultural trends that could inspire new storytelling formats.
Requirements
- 0–3 years of experience in media, journalism, content creation, or social media (internships count).
- Excellent writing, research, and communication skills.
- Deep interest in fashion, pop culture, youth culture, and digital storytelling.
- Experience publishing content on CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress or similar).
- Familiarity with social media tools and scheduling platforms.
- A highly collaborative attitude, paired with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Knowledge of or experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or basic image editing is a plus. Experience shooting on an iphone with a mic setup is a plus.
- Weekend or evening flexibility during key cultural moments (e.g. Fashion Week) is required.
